Our sisters always have something to look forward to. Whether is be a small sisterhood event, a long awaited end-of-the-quarter formal or a ceremonial Pi Phi event, members can always count on Pi Phi bringing the excitement and fun!
Bid Day
To conclude our Recruitment Week and start the year off right with our new sisters, we have a "Bid Day" on the last day of recruitment to celebrate our pledge class accepting their Pi Beta Phi Bids. This day is fun for our entire chapter, and includes a few hours of dancing, eating, and celebrating!
Initiation
Initiation takes place in our Fall quarter, and is one of the most memorable and special Pi Phi ceremonies, as our New Member class becomes a part of our chapter! Current members help in making it a unique experience and we typically come together the day prior for a Cookie Shine to share our love for Pi Phi and get our New Members excited about officially joining our chapter!
Presents
Presents is a special event in our Winter Quarter where New Members are presented in front of family and friends! Each New Member’s “Big Sister” presents them with special gifts to make their “Little Sister” feel truly a part of Pi Phi. It’s a special experience and an amazing opportunity for new Pi Phis to introduce their family to all of their life long sisters.
Sisterhoods
Davis Pi Beta Phi is known for its strong, genuine sisterhood. Our members love each other dearly and often cannot imagine their lives without each other. We maintain these bonds through frequent and exciting sisterhood events. From weekly farmar dates, Bachelor viewing parties, backyard movie nights at the house, to hikes at Lake Berryessa, our sisterhood chairs are always cooking up something fun for our members.
Formal
Each quarter, all of our sisters get together to invite dates and dance the night away at formal! We have had formals all over the Davis area (even at the Sacramento Zoo!), and we are always looking forward to the next one! Formal is different every quarter but is always a bunch of fun. Formal happens towards the end of the quarter and often serves as a last hoorah before plunging into last-minute midterms and finals. It’s one of Pi Phi’s favorite events each quarter because we can come together as a chapter, but also have our loved ones outside of the chapter tag along as our plus ones!
Big Little Reveal
Each year the new members receive "Big Sisters" that belong to the pledge class above them. Leading up to Big Little Reveal night, the littles get baskets from their secret bigs for four nights with treats and goodies, and on the fifth night they find out who their Big Sister is. Each Big and Little are members of "families", which is where their matching outfits come from: Jungle fam, Sleepy fam, Hippie fam, tropical fam, and more!
Founders Day
Founder’s Day takes place on April 28th and is an annual celebration to commemorate and share our gratitude for the 12 courageous women that came together to form Pi Phi. It is typically a brunch where our chapter comes together with local alumnae and even local chapters, such as Berkeley. Numerous ceremonies are traditionally performed and awards are presented to not only honor Pi Phis within our chapter, but share our appreciation for all of the influential and devoted Pi Phis - past and present.
